This role is ideal for a detail-oriented, self-motivated professional with experience in category management and a proven track record in sourcing and negotiation. Requirements:

  • Post-secondary technical training from an accredited institution or a minimum of 3 years of experience in direct buying and sourcing. Experience in redistribution is an asset.
  • Proven experience in negotiating and managing contracts.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication/documentation skills.
  • Knowledge of effective negotiation skills.
  • Ability to efficiently multi-task and schedule priorities.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, with the ability to handle confidential and/or controlled information.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems.
  • Effective management of quality and on-time delivery evaluations.
  • Proven success in sourcing, purchasing, and partnering with suppliers.
  • Excellent interpersonal, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
  • Superior organizational and planning skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and with little direction.
  • Professional demeanor aligned with core company values.
  • A positive attitude and the ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, with a willingness to solve complex issues effectively.

Work conditions:

Responsibilities:

  • Enforce category strategy for assigned categories and support all assigned locations for the products and services in scope.
  • Implement and maintain corporate overhead and operational supply agreements to meet business unit needs.
  • Facilitate supplier business and strategic alignment, including managing supplier relationships and quality initiatives.
  • Ensure a safe, sustainable, and effectively managed supply chain.
  • Deliver targeted savings, performance improvement benefits, and manage the cost reduction and performance of the supply chain in assigned categories.
  • Prepare and support the placement of subcontract and material supply orders.
  • Achieve targets set by the department head and adhere to Purchasing Department policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with category management colleagues and cross-functional teams to implement agreements across the business.
  • Prepare and present accurate reports, conduct regular category reporting, supplier reviews, forecasting, and budgeting savings and rebates.
  • Focus on effective communication and relationship building with internal clients and external suppliers.
  • Act as the liaison between Operational clients and key suppliers.
