Job description
The Lead Pump Mechanic is responsible for receiving, disassembling, inspecting, repairing, painting, and preparing centrifugal pumps and related rotating equipment for shipment. This position also includes assisting with training and developing Pump Mechanic personnel to ensure efficient use of manpower and compliance with customer requirements. The role also involves monitoring repair progress and assigning tasks to shop personnel, as well as packaging and safely crating pumps for shipping.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience working in a pump repair shop facility, including repairing ANSI and other centrifugal pumps
- In-depth understanding of ANSI and other applicable standards
- Ability to read pump sectional, machine drawings, and OEM pump manuals
- Experience with disassembly, inspection, and writing detailed reports on necessary repairs or replacement parts
- Proficiency in using hand, power, pneumatic, and hydraulic tools
- Experience with pneumatic and hydrostatic testing of parts and equipment
- Ability to read and understand mechanical seal drawings and perform seal removal, installation, and testing (preferred)
- Ability to work with competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to achieve results with minimal supervision
- High school diploma or GED (required)
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Must pass a background check, physical, and drug test
