Job description

As a Process Engineer, you will report to the Safety, Environmental, and Technical Manager, providing engineering support to our Sudbury operations. Your role involves developing technical skills and knowledge of our process technologies, implementing process improvements, solving process problems, and maximizing productivity safely. You will engage in engineering design and process control support for projects, ensuring they meet safety standards, environmental requirements, and customer satisfaction.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or other Engineering disciplines required.
  • Master of Science is considered an asset.
  • Working towards or has obtained Professional Engineering (P.Eng.) designation.
  • 3-6 years of relevant experience in the chemicals or pulp and paper industry.
  • Familiarity with quality systems and distributed control systems (DCS).
  • Strong technical, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills.

Work conditions:

Responsibilities:

  • Provide daily and weekend operational support, troubleshooting process difficulties, and recommending changes to enhance unit operations.
  • Monitor process variables and conditions to identify improvement opportunities, aiming to minimize costs and maximize productivity.
  • Assist in updating plant operating procedures and manage Process Safety Management (PSM) and Management of Change (MOC) activities.
  • Lead Process Hazard Assessments (PHAs), coordinate PSM audits, and ensure completion of actions.
  • Maintain plant PIDs and logic drawings up to date.
  • Prepare technical training materials and conduct operator training.
  • Promote health & safety and environmental awareness, ensuring changes impacting operations, product quality, and safety are reviewed, revised, and documented.
