Job description
We are seeking an experienced Sr. Mechanical Engineer to join our Displays division, specializing in avionics and defense display assemblies. This pivotal role involves translating complex customer requirements into detailed product specifications, focusing on electro-mechanical and opto-electronic mechanical assemblies. The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of mechanical engineering principles applied to LCD displays and related technologies, combined with strong 3D modeling skills and experience in product lifecycle management.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
- 8-10 years of relevant experience in mechanical design, particularly in electro-mechanical assemblies.
- Extensive experience with SolidWorks, with over 2,000 hours in design and drafting of electro-mechanical assemblies.
- In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes such as machining, casting, molding, and circuit card assemblies.
- Proficiency in computing with Windows and Microsoft Office.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Eligibility for EAR / ITAR clearance.
- Willingness for occasional travel as required by the job.
- The role may involve addressing technical design issues on the production floor and coordinating with various departments including sales, engineering, and manufacturing teams
Work conditions:
This is a full-time position with the flexibility of remote work, though it requires on-site presence 2-3 days per week.
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop detailed electro-mechanical assemblies, including optical components and electronic packaging.
- Create and manage 3D SolidWorks models and detailed manufacturing drawings.
- Select appropriate materials and perform engineering analysis such as tolerance analysis, mechanical stress calculations, and thermal management.
- Develop and manage the Bill of Materials (BOMs) and process Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).
- Lead efforts in new material and technology evaluations to enhance product performance.
- Serve as a technical authority in responding to corrective actions and non-conformance reports.
- Collaborate closely with suppliers to ensure product specifications and quality standards are met.
- Engage in cross-functional teams as an individual contributor or project leader to ensure that projects meet all technical requirements and are delivered on time.
